Blended Intesive Project - Designign Gaza
urbanism, community and resilience
The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP), part of the Erasmus+ Programme (2021–2027), combines digital and on-site learning in a short, intensive educational format. Hosted by the Opole University of Technology, the programme brought together students and tutors from Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUAS), Neapolis University Pafos, and the Technical University of Liberec, with guest contributions from Politecnico di Milano, NABA – Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, and the University of Pavia.
The research-based programme focused on the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, exploring scenarios for temporary settlements designed across scales, from territorial systems to architecture. Themes of temporariness, minimal space, and connection to the landscape opened a dialogue with campsite design, highlighting shared strategies despite different contexts.
Rather than offering solutions, the summer school fostered critical reflection on how spaces of necessity might evolve over time, alongside the shared hope for an end to the violence and the possibility for the Palestinian people to rebuild their future.
